May so far.....

So team, super strapped for time so a quick fill in on whats been happening the past few weeks. After Sea Otter it was back to Colorado for some final World Cup prep, and to build my fresh new race rigs, big thanks to all the sponsors for getting everything dialled, ooohh yeaahhhh!

World cup 4X #1 - Belgium

- It was meant to rain, and it didnt
- New progate for the 4X world cups for 2010....PUMPED! Finally, a gate that drops at a good speed.
- There was a stuff up with online registration, which saw me left off the start list initially, which was sorted out, but it meant I was pretty much last person to get their qualifying run, I had to wait through 130 guys to get my go.
- By the time my run came around, it was cold and dark and the track was pretty blown out, but I managed to put it in 1st...so happy days!
- Racing went good all night, and I had a comfy win. So glad everyone kept things together this year, and there was far less of the random take out attempt passes from last year.

So in a nut shell, that was Belgium, from there it was straight to Aigle in Switzerland, the UCI headquarters,to ride the BMX SX track to try and get used to it for round 2 of the BMX world cup in Denmark.

Felt pretty decent on my bike considering 1 day preparation for a world cup, certainly not feeling "at one" with my bike haha, all up a pretty far from ideal preparation, but whatever. Qualifying in Copenhagen was solid, not a stellar lap, but I was pleased with it, especially with the 40km/h headwind down the 3rd straight that saw less than half the field even make it through! I ended up 14th and only .3 of a second from top 5.... so after 20 months away from World cup level BMX racing, not too bad. Oh there was a new record of 140 mens entries also....pretty rad!

Racing time, I had gotten some good gates going just before Qualifyng the day before, so I was feeling good, again the weather was threatening, but holding off, come race time im not sure what was going on, I was struggling to get my gates consistant, I never miss my gates anymore....what the hell was gong on?? Moto 1 I hit the gate, moto 2 I was super late, I guess my preparation wasnt looking so hot at this time haha. Moto 3 I got out ok and got a good holeshot, and was through to the quarter final easily in the end.

I picked lane 6 for the quarter, I thought my day was coming around, as I always ride better as the races get more towards final time....and I was confident for another holeshot, but I completely messed up my gate this time, still got int the top 3 into turn 1, but then made bad choices and kept getting stuck in a bad position for the rest of the lap, which left the door wide open for white line bombers, and my day was done.

All up, a pretty dissapointing race, but when I look at my preparation of pretty much all MTB riding, and knowing all it would have taken were some better gates, and the result could have been very different. It can't be your day everyday, so no worries.

So im now stayng at the Molciks house just outside Vienna, and were off to Maribor in the morning for round #2 of the 4X world cup as well as round 1 for DH. So Back on the MTB full time for the next few months, Ive been putting on the work, time to get it done!
